Its not an original 340/4 speed. Not in 71 unless it was one of the canadian ones. This car looks a little cobbled up, bet it looks really rough up close!!
 
I see now about the no 71 Dart 340s because of the Demons. I wonder if this could be a Canadian one. We are pretty close to Canada, you do see a few Canidian imports around here. Somebody call him and get the VIN.
 
this car is not an original 340 as your assumption were rite its an original 318 automatic car that an ford service manager replaced the auto with a 4 speed along with the 340, does have some rust in lower quarters as fore thats a common trait on these a bodys, going to look at it on thursday seems to have alot of potential we'l see thow this week, the owner seems pretty darn honest
