grille repair

-
I heard of them ... BUT i also heard they are very expensive .... The reason being .. the reanodize parts after restoring them ...

ok, i guess my next question is........wait for it............

what color are 69 cuda grille inserts and surrounds supposed to be?

I have some 'spare' parts I may experiment on.

Formula S plastic grilles are moulded in black plastic and the silver barracuda grilles are moulded in a gray plastic and then painted silver.

If your gonna try doing some plastic repairs, which I have been doing for years.I will suggest a product made by Devcon thats called plastic weld and I can find it around here at the local hardware stores.

I am redoing 5 69 grilles right now,so if you have any ???? ask away.

oh, also...I hate to be too technical but does anyone know the 'exact' color and/or a close proximity to the color of the surrounds and the grates. I, of course, have these parts but the are old and faded. It's not a big deal to me to know the exact color, but if anyone else has repaired 69 'Cuda 340 grilles, what colors did you use? (non 'S' models)

Take a look at this pic. I think that the egg crates are satin black. For a 'Cuda the right black for the plastic surrounds is more semi-gloss.

Here is a BBDave's NOS ones. the eggcrates are sprayed from the back and the fronts do not have paint on them.

Here is a post about it:

My A56 'Cuda had black grilles and black surrounds. The surrounds on mine were a little more shiny than the eggcrates, but not by so much they were glossy. It is tough to describe. Hope the pics help.
