Is there any good write ups on the best and easiest way to restore your grille? Mine needs to be repainted black and such and was thinking about doing it this weekend.

Thanks!

Are you painting it all black or just part of it?
Cleaning it with 000 or 0000 steel wool would be a good start.
It is aluminum, so aluminum mag cleaner would chemically prep it(phosphoric acid)
Taping off the areas that you want to prep and scuffing with a 3m ScotchBrite would be ok I would think.

I just did mine on my Dart a few weeks ago. I think it turned out OK for my first try and anything like this. I have pictures of the head light bezels but the grill pictures are still in the camera I'll post those when I get a chance.

I first masked the aluminum area and painted the black. I then masked the black and aluminum areas and painted the silver. It wasn't that hard to finish the bezels but I did the grill basically the same way and it was a lot more work. I figured the bezels that I have are not in the best of shape so if I screwed them up they would due for now until I could find a new set.

If you're a purist, stick to the semi-gloss blacks out there............BUT, if you like a little pop and pizazz without sacrificing the Mopar look, try some Dupli-Color Universal Black Metallic spray for the black areas of the grille.....Bake it in the sun, and protect it with a nice coat of Dupli-Color Clear (these are both lacquers).

It's a great looking black, not too shiny, and has a nice look in the sun OR the shade.

Our shop has done this with quite a few grille jobs and have had great results.
