You put the two fasteners in the door from the outside, then push the emblem pins into the holes (you don’t put the fasteners onto the pins from the inside of the door)?

this is typically what I see for retainers. On later years I see a push in retainer that the posts push into.
I can not say for sure on the GTS badge but 67 GT and V8 and D O D G E letters they all use a nut like this

Yes, sir.You are correct, they push into those sleeves which are tapered to hold the emblem in place. I presume you are talking about a 1969 Dart?
