Can anyone tell me the correct procedure for testing a 727 with guages. How to hook them up and then actually testing for correct pressures.

The box is a full manual VB reverse pattern with a 3000 stall

You can test for pressures but unless you know what their supposed to be you won't gain anything. I have the factory serv manual that shows where to check what but the pressures on a full manual valve body will be much higher and different (no modulating with the throttle valve)

What kind of problem are you having?

I found some pressures on a chart from TCI so thats not a problem. I am not having problems - Touch Wood. I have assembled the trans myself and I have motor and box on a test stand ready to fire. As this is my first ever box rebuild and have some guages I thought it worthwhile to test before fitting in the car. Never done it before so was looking for guidance on how its done.

Your welcome

well that tells me there the same but that chart is for transmissions with their valve bodies , what are the stock numbers ? And what effect does higher or lower numbers have on the trans ?

More pressure increases clamping ability which makes it shift firmer and have less chance of slippage that'd burn up the clutches and bands. Installing a shift kit raises the pressures as does installing a manual valve body
