Being a guitar player for almost 40 years now I`m always amazed to see players of all ages, backgrounds, and styles around the world that can "lay it down". Check out this Brazilian dude on youtube; perhaps not the most melodic of solos but this guy can rip the scales, sweeps, and has got a cool two hand technique. :headbang: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ATub40Npxik
 
Damn, he's good! have you ever seen Eric Johnson play Cliffs of Dover? Thats **** is amazing.

I cant make out the name on the head. Anyone know what guitar it is he's playing?
 
he's definetly got his chops in order!
bet he started his lessons with Mel Bay in the early years.

My hands started hurting just watching him,#-o

I got to play some last week end and got out from behind the drums and played the bass for a couple song's and my left hand about froze up.:sad5:

Yeah, he's definitely a talented player, but he's using almost as many special effects as they did in the Transformers movie.

As a young teenager I got an onstage seat with Johnny Winter. I crawled on the stage and propped up against the PA stacks and watched the entire show from there.......nobody ever bothered me. Nowadays if you tried that some gorilla would beat you and throw you off the stage. I happened to see SRV back up Huey Lewis when he first got out on his own. If you ever went to a Huey Lewis show you`d know that the ratio of women to men was about 3-1 (lucky men) so the ladies were not so happy to have some blues guy wailin` away for 75 minutes, they just wanted to dance! I was watching him thinking, "wow this guy is good". I never saw Jeff Healey but bought his debut album when it hit the stores. What a battle he waged with cancer, it was sad to hear that he finally succumbed to it after 40 years in the fight.

SRV was a great influence to my son creed he has most of his licks down.
Eric.Clapaton and many more, Tony's Waiting for Hellen is a great cd.
You can here he has a good time and we have dun some of his music around
the house and at friends jam time.

You guys should check out John Mclaughlin! He's a jazz/fusion/other stuff guitarist that has been around for a long time. He used to play in Miles Davis' band. He is on 'Bitches Brew' and 'On the Corner' probably other stuff too. Anyway, he is really good, you won't be disappointed!
 
How about a slight change of pace folks. As some of you know, I am originally from Hawaii and play a pretty mean 8-string tenor ukulele but nothing compared to my little cousin Lopaka (Robert) and his band mate Jake in their group Pure Heart. They have long since split (they were just kids when they had their group together) but Jake is still performing. Granted this on an ukulele but watch the entire piece - its quite beautiful and a nice tribute to George Harrison.

That was very refreshing (on the uke). My favorite Beatle was George too, probably because he was the best guitar player of the bunch,.......and because he authored the song "Something". Love that song, what a fantastic love song!
