IS the harmonic balancer on a 318 and 340 the same. If so with a fluid damper do i need a longer bolt.

balancer is the same. If I remember right the fluidampr used the stock bolt.

Depends on which crank you're using. The forged crank 340 and cast crank 318 of 1970/71 show the same part number. The cast crank 340 and the cast crank 318 of 1973 use different balancers. The earlier 340s and all LA 318s were internally balanced. The 73 340s were externally balanced.
