Has anyone ever seen this band live?

"Best guitarist" lists are always controversial.

Here's a short list of who got left out of the Rolling Stone list cited above, that put GL at 47-

Roy Buchanan, Danny Gatton, Michael Schenker, Alvin Lee, Warren Haynes, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Sonny Landreth, Robin Trower, Gary Moore, Rick Derringer, Steve Howe, Eric Johnson, John Fogerty, Joe Bonamassa, Steve Morse, Steve Lukather, Jorma Kaukonen, Guthrie Govan, Brian Setzer, Tommy Emmanuel, Lenny Breau, and Hank Marvin.

They also tend to put in people for their accomplishments rather than ability and technique.
I frequently see Pete Townsend and Jerry Garcia in "best guitarist" lists.
Neither was anywhere near as good as the list I posted of "left out", but they always seem to make it in.
Anyone who has ever heard Michael Shenker UFO Strangers in the Night "Rock Bottom" and left Michael Shenker off the list is a fraud...LOL

I listen to the video and they are awful. Guitar playing, they don't have a thing compared to Eddie van Halen. I heard a lot of noise though. You can't beat the groups of the 70's. Fleetwood Mac, Stix, Journey, Eagles, now there's talent and good music.

Yes.

Even though GL was around at the same time as Van Halen and Stevie Ray, he was, for a time considered "the best guitarist in the world" by the musical literary publishers.

That's some pretty stiff competition to have garnered that type of respect.
Glen Campbell. One of the best ever.

Glen Campbell. One of the best ever.
I saw a youtube video a while back and there was Glen Campbell shredding on the guitar. My mom was a big Glen Cambel fan and the Hee Haw show. Your darn tootin' there wasn't any grass growing under Glen's feet when he picked up a guitar.

And he does it on a 12 string!

Schenker is kind of a weirdo, but is for sure one of the most underrated, despite being hailed as incredible starting at age 16.

Cris Oliva (RIP) never gets respect either.

David T. Chastain.

Horton Heat.

I could go on.

Rory Gallagher gets left out of those lists most of the time. He was an incredible guitarist. Didn’t have all the flashy gear either.
