Just got a shipping quote from South Carolina to Michigan on a dual snorkel hood scoop and I did use an oversized box with a lot of packing in there but they quoted me $139...WTF...what would pirate shipping charge?

Pirate ship is by far much less than full retail UPS pricing. Give me rough dimensions/weight and both zip codes i'll check pricing real quick.

probably 1/2 that. however, dimensional weight is a killer no matter who you're shipping thru. it'll be cheaper thru pirate but anything over 20" is $$ now.

pro tip: pay for the extra insurance. it's an ounce of prevention for pounds of frustration should anything happen.

I sent this '65 Dart hood trim to Texas 2 weeks ago to be restored. UPS charged $104 and the same back! Way more than the repair cost.

Shipping with a USPS "Click-N-Ship" account is pretty cheap now but I don't know at what point size & weight costs start to favor the other shippers.

With standard $100 insurance rough shipping is $61.57 from SC to michigan
Based off those dimensions and 30lbs

Probably need to minimize the size of the box I just have it padded with so much bubble wrap and styrofoam because it still has the studs in the scoop and I do not want nothing to get damaged

UPS suck with there prices. I use Fedex. Sending chrome trim in a old carpet tube is the safest but make sure they ship it as a box or its double the price for a tube. Just found that out.

But shipping has gone through the roof. I may call "TRUMP's" complaint number to see if he can get a handle on the increase. LOL

Pirate Ship is usually about half what UPS wants.....for the same dang trip! When you use Pirate Ship, on the RARE occasion when USPS comes up a little cheaper.....pay a little more for UPS! I shipped my nephew a motorcycle helmet on Pirate Ship a month or so ago. USPS was 4 or 5 bucks cheaper. It rode more miles on the truck then it ever will on his head....lol. It left Candler, NC..went to Greenville, SC, then to Gastonia, NC, then to Charlotte, NC, then to Baton Rouge, LA, then to Houston, TX, then to Chicago,IL, then to Boulder CO, then finally to Seattle where he lives. 11 days riding a truck! UPS would have been 3 days tops. The boy sat in his garage and about waxed the paint off that new to him R6 Yamaha waiting on a helmet....lol.

I'd be cautious of minimizing your packaging. We can't see inside your box to see how well it's packed, but in my experience, more is definitely better.

I pack my stuff as if it were going to be dropped 10 feet out of a window.....because it damn sure might....

I think it states on their sites that u have to have 3 inches minimum packing around every side top and bottom. I could be wrong but if u don’t have that much packing surely your claim will be denied. As others have stated b4 their first rule is not pay the claim. Kim

It ain't worth it to me parts are so valuable I can't afford to take a loss I reckon if they want them bad enough they can drive here

Don’t sweat it Will .
You pack great !

Those 340 manifolds a few months ago were packed perfectly .
That box could have went through a wreck and the parts inside would have been fine .
