Can I re-use my head bolts...they have less that 300 miles on them. Took them off to change heads. Want to know if its ok and what Should i torque them to now
oh.. reuse them..np. if your curious tho you can do the old "stretch to yield" test. that envoles measuring the
length of a brand new head bolt and compare it to a head bolt that has been torqued. there is a difference in
the length.. but no worries.. reuse them.
No, if you chased the block threads just 300 miles ago you shouldn`t have to do it again now. If you didn`t do it before though it`s a good idea because it helps to attain the proper torque readings.
reuse, I have never had a problem ever in the past 6 to 10 heads I have installed. back in the day :-D I worry more about buying junk that is not up to par these days :toothy10:
Unless they have been stretched or disfigured, they should be okay to re-use. Just remember to put them back in the right place. Short ones along the bottom, longest ones in the oil galley on each side and the others fill in the rest of the top.
