why are the head gaskets for the slant have 2 different size bores. Mahle 1162VC shows a 3.25 bore and the Felpro 7918PT1 shows the 3.4 bore. Both for the 225 slant 6. Inquiring minds want to know.
no /6 had a 3.2-anything bore. Dont know what youre seeing. Misprint? the 3.4 bore is right, bore holes in most head gaskets is 3.5-something. there have been threads on this very thing within the last 6 months or so right here in this forum. chances are your combustion chamber (in the head) is bigger than 3.4. Mine was. and is.
All stock Slantys are 3.40". The '41-'60 218/230 flathead six the Slanty replaced had a 3.25" bore, but which does Mahle have wrong; part#, description/specs, application?I understand what you are saying but if you look up the part # specs for Mahle 1162VC it plainly states in the specs that the bore is 3.25. It isnt a misprint unless it came from the mfg. I saw it on the screen at Oreilly's and I saw it on the internet. I know the bore is 3.4 because I gauged it on the cylinder but never the less somebody is going to order a head gasket one day and get one that isnt right. I didnt know by what Chrysler did back in the day if they had 2 different sizes.
