head threds

Can you drill and tap the 5/16 head threds to the next size up on small block heads? i got some header bolts and thay are for ford and chevy, i want to use that size.but you guys know beter than me

There isn't enough room by the ports to use the larger size bolt and have the gasket seal, unless you use a exh. plate and use countersunk allen screws.
