This is my first 440 a body install. I have the 440 in the car and purchased the block hugger tri y headers from schumacher. The passenger side has lots of clearance. What is the best way to install the headers on the driver side? do i have to loosen the mounts and lift the motor? or am i supposed to remove the starter and steering shaft and install from underneath the car?

The manual from Schumacher says it's easy, but not sure which way to go.

thanks

Robert

my guess is to loosen the mount on drivers side. jack hotrod up. jack motor up. remove starter. install from underneath. try from the top also. don't forget to remove positive lead off battery.

I put in Schumachers with my 440 about 6 months ago or so. They go in from the top. Pull the plugs. Unbolt the motor mounts from the k-frame and jack the engine up as far as it will go, several inches. I believe the starter can stay installed. The dipstick will get in the way a little bit but mine stayed in place. They really go in pretty easy.
Good luck
