my 68 val lost all lights except for headlights one night driving home.
the fuses and bulbs look good and engine is running fine.
any suggestions???

could be a few things.. bulbs blown? came unpluged.. shorted wiring.. bad switch..

Are there brake lights? marker lights.. interior lights??

i've only headlights. no dash, brakes, interior, nothing.
suspect the switch and plan to swap it.
there seems no sign of wire damage any where.( i've pulled the instument panel out for a better look.

Sounds like a headlight switch to me. If you only have headlights. No dash/
tail and side markers. You have the dash out/Inst cluster. Check for power
out of the switch. then go from there. Good luck. Green Duster.

i took the dash out and checked all connections and grounds.( i had a bad ground at the licence plate light and fixed that but that shouldn't have screwed up everything else, eh ?).
lights are working now!

thanks for your help guys!!!!!

the license plate light wire is on the same circuit as your running lights. yes it can blow the fuse if it goes to ground, i've seen it happen.

thats what i was about to say is on my 72 i had a bad ground on my license plate and it threw everything off except for headlights but they dimmed alot.... so we went through and regrounded every light that i have and now they are all much brighter lol.

i'm glad that this may be the source of problem. i'm gonna double check the wire for it on my next day off for any cuts ,fraying, etc.....
