I've got a Ford 1 ton dually. 94 model and it seems to have developed an issue with the headlites blinking on and off. Not sure if it's the on/off switch on the dash of the hi/low lever on the column. When they go out i can pull the lever back to me and they will come on and remain on high if i hold it to me. It seems to be more of an issue on high more so than on low. Where do i start? Looking at the Haynes manual now.

Just a guess, but I would guess heat from electricical resistance is tripping something. I am guessing the stalk wiring runs through the main on/off switch, so if that was the case, then holding the stalk on high should trip the main switch if it was the problem. I'm guessing it's the stalk.

Possibly a bad headlight relay. Find the wiring diagrams in the Haynes manual and look for the relay.

Had the same thing happen in my 98 Ram, Bill. It was the switch and it can be very bad, as in cause a fire if left unattended.
