I have 2 383 motors - a '66 out of a Satellite and a cast crank '71 original application unknown.
I want to use one motor in my Ramcharger and the other in my Dart. I'm planning on using the '66 short block for the Dart but was wondering which heads have better performance potential.
The '71 has 3462346 heads - I think these are similar to -452s but without hardened seats? The '66 has something like 40 51 5 cast on the heads. I guess they are closed chamber and probably don't flow as well as the later heads?
I was thinking the '66 heads would up the compression on the '71 motor and be a good torquey set up for the Ramcharger whilst the '71 heads probably have more flow potential with a bit of work for the Dart.
What do you guys think?
