im looking at an old cab and chassis for a roll back project but it has old style 2 part wheels. i have been told that Budd type conversions are doable but how difficult /expensive would it be ?

are you talking the 5-hole budd pattern? (Widow maker rims originally) If so, Alcoa made aluminum ones, but I don't know of they are still making them. I have an older Step-Van that has 19.5" 5-hole Budd, I had some steel ones made for it but that was probably 20 years ago.. They used a lot of them on older motorhomes in the late 60s and 70s,

what size wheels are they 15,16,16.5,19.5,20" what year, what type of truck, they used all of these with split rims also what type of lug nuts ,flat, tapered ,some have a mounting plate to hold the wheel on,5/6/8/10 bolts holes, do the wheels have a spacer between them ,if they do there Dayton wheels with wedges holding the wheels in place?
