I'm interested in using an HEI type distributor. Does anybody have any recommendations towards a particular brand? From the information I've found on-line, Pro Comp is NOT the way to go. Any help is appreciated...

Make your own for about $125, including the coil. I bought an MSD Blaster 2, a Mallory 4 pin HEI, and a Chrysler vacuum advance distibutor, and wired it myself. Runs MUCH better than the old single points type that was on my 66 cuda, and needs no ballast resistor. Highly recommended.

I did it myself in a couple of hours, an excellent upgrade!

Been building them myself for years in my daily drivers. I first read about it on golduster318s website but my malware detector keeps going off when I try to open it now.
If I still ran a V8 I would get one of the ones off ebay that is just a stock electronic dist. with a HEI unit inside a little chrome box on the side of the dist. Or if you have the room on the firewall get the one that is just like a chevy with the coil in the cap but has a mopar shaft.

Here is my 69 D100 SWB that I just did it on along with a chevy alternator. Next up will be my 73 Dart 4 door.

I was looking for the Chevy/ GM style that has the coil built in the distributor like the Mallory 75 series or the DUI HEI unit. This may be a dumb question but can I take something like the MSD Ultimate HEI Kit (I think Summit has a version) and mount that on my stock distributor?
