hello all, i have what i think is an A 833 4 speed in my car, know it not original etc as has A body tailpiece , the input shaft is 18 spline, is this rare? i dont know if it just the input shat thats been swapped,if i get any casting numbers can anyone id the trans please? i want to get a rebuild kit for it, are parts like the detent and cams still available? cheers in advance, nathan.

I'm not really sure what the factory used for a 4 speed in the 68 superstock A bodies but the trans would be a crash box. It's very easy to convert A B or B/E hemui trans to fit the A body , just swap the mainshft and the tailhousing froma NON OD A body 4 speed.

Get the STAMPED numbers off the raised pad on the passenger side of the trans , but since it has been messed with it will be hard to tell what has or hasn't been changed/updated. The casting numbers on the maincase and the tailhousing will be useless to identify what is inside .
