Ok the 318 in my truck has done well and still doing well but getting old.

its a 84 318 now I will be mostly daily driving and off-roading (a lot of off-roading) and pulling my duster to the drag strip. I don't want to swap pistons but rering and rebuild everything else. I figured some type of RV cam longtubes headers and a 500cfc 4bbr in the works what's a good RV cam.

Try the Crane H-260-2 with a set of Rhoades lifters Part # 2018.

Keep your original heads, but have your head guy put in 360 valves 1.88" intake and 1.60" exhaust.

Look into a Mancini racing "refresh kit". They have some from basic bearings, rings, and gaskets, for $200. Or pistons, rings, bearings, oil pump, freeze plugs, and gaskets for $400. :

Get a good dual plane intake like an LD340 or Wiand Stealth part # 8022:

here's a nice Holley 600 vac secondary carb calibrated for a late 60's engine and comes with electric choke. It's a good daily driver carb I've used them for years for only $320.

A good Edelbrock true roller double roller timing chain set this is one step above the stock 340 chain and will fit a 318:

and a carb gasket with a center divider to keep the dual plane signal all the way to your carb like the Holley 108-18 shown here:

Sorry, if you have a 318 with the original port heads, you will want the Edelbrock LD4B instead of the LD340. The ports will match better with the 318 heads. However the LD4B does not have the bosses to mount the coil in the stock location and the LD340 does.

A port match is recommended. But if not done yourself it will be an added expense.
