How have you guys with this pan gotten your engine in?(milodon pan 30935)

I have 74 duster with 360 and power steering. Im using an engine lift with the angling thing on it to get it in but i can't seen to get the bottom left corner to clear the k-member, there is about 1/2 clearance issue.

Just the engine or engine/trans ?
I'd think if it's just the engine you could more or less drop it straight down .
Whereas with the trans you've really gotta angle it . FWIW.

You need to notch the k-member...

Correct. The passenger side of the K frame hits the pan. I also tried 3 set of headers before I found a set that fit. Hedmans and Hooker Supercomps were a no-Go. TTIs cleared fine.

yeah it is a engine trans combo...

when i notch it should i get it welded back up with in indentation? how do i prevent it from cracking?

It will be fine when you notch it......wouldnt be the first time it was done for sure. You could throw a quick weld on it but I dont believe you will be in danger if you dont.

thanks guys i just got it in!

The cuts we did just clear it. Here is a pic of were i cut. What do you guys think? still gonna be strong?

(this pic is from firmfeel.com mine is note reinforced)

man if i had a welder or knew about this before hand i would of notched the pan... :( ohh well later on ill get an alterkation kit.

It's not a real hi stress area. Now if you were altering the engine mount area to clear a big block oil pump, then yes definitely reinforce it!!

cool!

I love you guys! Man such good help here!

I had the same problem so I bent the lip on the k member and wacked the corner of the pan with a hammer, fixed.

Now I just lop the corner off the front corner and clearance the driver side for the low buck headmans like in the pic's below

Had to die grind about 3/8" off the passenger side K frame to install my engine, so the Milodon pan would clear. Seems like nothing ever fits. LOL
