Can someone help me out, I'm happy to say that my little brother is 14 and into cars, specificly into mopars......so I guess I have been a good influence.8)

anyway he just bought a 72 Dodge Charger, very solid project, should be an easy resto. Looks like a factory 400 high performance, hemi orange, 8.75 with auto, looks like factory sway bars ect.....anyway heres the the fender tag readout, hoping somebody can decode it.

Also something I saw that was wierd was there was a letter "K" stamped out of the top right hand corner of the fender tag....anybody know why?

The fendertag reads........

R26 S62 V7W END
M21 M31 N23 N41 N42
G11 G36 J25 J52 L31 L37
V1W U B41 B51 C21 C56
EV2 E6XW EW1 327 154619
E68 D34 WP29 P2G 182558

thanks for any help

WP29P2G-1972 Charger 2 door sports hardtop, built in St. Louis
EV2-Hemi Orange paint
E6XW-white vinyl bucket seats
EW1-upper door frame paint white
327-built 3/27/72
V1W-White vinyl top
B41-disc brakes
B51-power disc brakes
C21-center fold down arm rest
C56-bucket seats
G11-all tinted glass
G36-remote drivers mirror, manual passenger mirror
J25-3 speed wipers
J52-inside hood release
L31-fender mount turn signals
L37-hideaway headlights
M21-drip rail chrome
M31-belt and hood mouldings
N23-electronic ignition
N41-dual exhaust
N42-chrome tips (probably the shotgun type)
R26-AM radio with cassete
S62-tilt steering
V7W-white accent stripe (running down the side)

That car has some pretty good options on it (R26,N42,L37). I would say that is somewhat of a rare car with the HP 400/727.

Man I bet that car was quite the looker in her earlier days. Is he gonna go back original?

few pics of her

Wow! They keep getting younger! Where did he get the cash to buy a Charger at 14?

*Shameless bump*

Im proud to add another mopar guy to the crowd, I really didn't push him into it either haha he decided it was time for a project car and decided this was it, He has been saving money from summer jobs for awhile......and the car was definitly cheaper than what its worth.

hey thanks, glad to see the results and it IS a factory HP car....funny that it wasn't a Charger Rally.....its just a Charger SE. I saw the origional radio/cassete laying in the back seat too!

Man I bet that car was quite the looker in her earlier days. Is he gonna go back original?

He knows its a rare car so he will be stay almost all origional. I'm sure theyre will be a few speed parts in the 400 and maybe set of mag wheels but otherwise she will be going back to stock

Looks like a good, original start for a project. Glad to hear he is staying close to stock.

I have a driver seat exactly like the ones in that car and I could never figure out what it went to. I guess now I know.

Man theres so much that can be done to make that car shine like new! I cant wait to get the chance to get the money for the 1973 Charger im trying to get! Can you put pics up when shes done?

yea I'm sure there will be pictures when she is done but that will be aways down the road. He's going to learn to wrench on this car.....I'll show him how to do some body work too.

I can't believe its been six years since my first mopar. Got my first one when I was 14 and I'm going to turn 20 in two weeks.

anybody have a clue about the "K" stamped into the top right corner of the fender tag?

It's nothing special, not an option code or anything. I think it's more of an assembley line formality, signaling that something was done on the car. A lot of the fender tags I've seen have that same "K".

okay, figured it was nothing special, just curious since I had not seen one before.

Inspectors stamp, yours was inspected by "K" whoever that was.......
