This vacuum relay was on my '71 340 engine when I got it...anyone know what its for? Has these numbers on it 3874027 and 18271 (date code?)

Engine was out of and coded for a '71 model year car.

Looks like an emissions part. Other than that I don't know.

Had the same device on My 72 dart (318) I belivieve it runs between the carb and the vacuum advance on the distributor. ( no vacuum advance when engine is cold) = emmisions part.Works a whole lot better in my box of spare parts.... irat:
