Hoping there is a simple solution I haven't thought of yet for this one. Few weeks ago I had a failed mechanical fuel pump on my 65' Valiant 225 slant 6 so I went to o'rileys and bought a new M16124 pump, threw it in, fired up and it ran fine. Next weekend I take the Valiant up to the mountains to go snowboarding and had to put chains on it get get over the snow/ice mountain peak, seemed fine just shaky as chains do. Went back to the car after a day of snowboarding and smelled fuel, I popped the hood while warming the engine up and noticed fuel leaking out of the rubber hose that connects the tank's fuel line to the low pressure side of the pump. So I grab a screwdriver and tighten the hose clamp, problem solved. Next day I'm warming the engine up about to leave for work and smell fuel again, so i pop the hood and now fuel is SPRAYING out of the rubber fuel lines the connect the fuel filter and carb (BBD 2 bbr carter). Well I'm using spring hose clamps on those hoses and always have, so know I'm thinking I have a defective fuel pump, possible a clogged bypass in the pump itself. So I go to O'rileys, defect it out, swap for new, throw the new one in, fire it up, and its SPRAYING fuel out of ever fuel line. Idles fine, doesn't seem like excessive fuel in or down carb throat. I checked the needle and seat, they seem fine. I ran it with out the fuel cap on and fire extinguisher in hand, maybe vacuum issue with the breather, but nope same problem. Anyone have an idea? I'm sure its simple but I just haven't thought of it yet. If anyone hears of a giant explosion north of Sacramento, that would be me trying to get the fuel to stop leaking on my radiator fan...
