Hello all,

I took a look at the fast idle cam on my Holley model 1945 carb and noticed that the cam is loose. I can push the pin back in and get the cam screw to sit back on the cam. However, as soon as you give it some gas and the cam moves, the cam gets loose again and fall out of place, so when it is idling again the fast idle cam screw is not resting against the cam any more. The idle seems to be fine, but I was just wondering if this impacts the performance any, and if there is any way to get the cam to stay in place. For what it is worth, the retainer clip is still there.

Any info will help. Thank you!

I don't have one to look at but i looked at a exploded view and was wondering if a thin washer behind or in front of it stop it from floating around?

There is a "fast idle cam retainer." This piece sits on the outer side of the cam, so that it does not come off. However, I cannot see from the exploded image what it connects to, if anything at all, on the inside of the carb. Right now it is just flopping around.
