I have an 86 318 in a 83 Ram W150. The truck was originally a 6 then was swapped to a 360. The PO swapped in a 318, not sure why maybe there was an issue with the 360 but he did say the 318 came from a very well maintained and completely stock truck (stock intake and 2BL). When he installed the 318 he wanted to do a 4BL upgrade so he used the Street Dominator Z series from the 360. I've searched high and low, I know there is a lot of talk about using the SD Z series on a 18 because it matches the port size, but my question is did they make a SD Z series specifically for a 360 in the 80s? And if they did, I could potentially have some port mismatch and oversized runners jacking the power band up. I already have a hot hard start issue and I'm going to try a insulating spacer on the carb, so if I'm pulling the carb I may just swap intakes. Maybe use a Weiand Stealth or Eddy Performer.

Run it.

That port thing is a red herring for what you are doing. The ports are fine for the engine you have. IIRC, they are 1.02 x 2.08 dimensions.

Hot start issues are likely tune up and maybe poor battery cable.

I believe all of them used the smaller 273/318 port window. It’s definitely not what’s causing your hot start issue and you’ll likely not see much difference by switching to a performer or similar intake on a low hp combo.

That's what I needed to know, just wasn't sure since it came off a 360. At this point not trying to get any performance, I have a lot of other issues to tackle, with the whole truck. It was on the way to rust heaven until about year ago a guy rescued it. Appreciate the help!
