So, I rebuilt my Carb this weekend. Holly 1920 on a /6.

Before the idle was shuddery and it smelled really rich. The mixture screw didnt really seem to do much, except not let it idle when you seemingly had it adjusted correctly.

After i rebuilt it, the car runs a heckof a lot better, nice smooth idle, but the mixture screw still doesnt seem to do much, its almost adjusted all the way out. Far beyond the little tensioner spring.

Is the carb just worn out?
 
My 1920 on the /6 in my '76 Valaint work commute car has the same issues. Runs great, but it has a slight miss at idle.
