Homemade steering column

Anyone on here made a homemade steering column for a drag car? If so how'd you do it and what'd you use.
 
you can buy pre-made kits with everything you need from most of the big chassis shops.

you can also get all your parts from the Dirt Track part suppliers for a resonable price to configure your own.

Here is a break down of parts needed.

1) steering wheel of choice
2) quick disconnect coupler for steering wheel for 3/4 tubing
3) some type of mount to attach to dash. they make a oversize Heim joint to do this
4) a firewall mount
5) a universal joint couple that adapts to your steering box
6) about 3-4 ft of 3/4 o.d tubing

I will look for the pics I have of my setup I made for my cuda and get them posted in the next day or so.

Thanks I may have asked the question a little early shortly afterward I actually found another idea like that but your pictures are great as far as how to get it installed in the car.

Yea summit or whoever sells firewall bearings like that for about 20 bucks and up. I got most the parts coming just need ths tubing
