I have a question about hood options for my 69 Dart. My Dart currently has the original/stock GT hood installed. I am wondering if a GTS hood offers more underhood clearance than a stock (flat) GT hood? It is already tight under my hood with the 1/2" phenolic spacer installed and I may have to install the 1". I also have the black Mopar air cleaner which does not allow me to use a drop base (I don't believe). I would appreciate any insight.

I am not an expert on Dart hoods, but those that I have seen seem to have the same center height above the air cleaner and that only the ornaments/bulges are raised.

No. You won't gain anything there.

Why the need for more clearance? You may do better with another air cleaner.

I figured there was no difference but I thought I would ask to be sure. I really don't want to have to switch air cleaners because the car also has the wrinkle black valve covers. If I change all of that then I may consider an air cleaner with a drop base.
