Hood hinge questions

The hood hinge on my 71 Dart is rubbing the inner fender area as you lift the hood and close it??? Yet the passengers side is clear by 2-3 inches?? I noticed that the passengers coil spring is loose to the touch, and the drivers side is tight? So would the passengers side loose be letting the hood lean to drivers side maybe??

Is there a way to adjust the springs?

Inside the fender there are little spring washers that push onto the posts that hood hinge sits on. They may have backed off a little, or based on the problem , a lot. I think you can get the spring washers in the HELP section of any auto parts store. sounds like the washer and the spring came off.

I had the same problem,even with the retainers tight it took too much power to overcome the spring so it would bind and the hinge would flex.I actually took the spring off and use sylglide or something similar to lube them,installed some new retainers form a hardware store and its great.
