hood hinges for 69 Dart...HELP!!

I need to know the best way to put the hood springs (coil type) back on the hood hinges....They have been taken out of the "notch" on the hinges and my hinges are useless without them being re-tensioned and put back in place....Will I have to remove the fenders to do this or is there an easier way???? Thanks
