hood hinges

I got new-rebuilt hood hinges for one of my cars and I need to know on the lower hinge that goes on the pins how far to put them on?(none on car now)
and i can't see the lower one on the other cars.

you would think i should know having all the a-bodys i done but i can't remeber?

put some white grease on the pins and push them up tite against the body or leave a gap?

leave a gap how much?

I put my on tight. I did try to leave a little gap but the hood wouldn't go down smooth.

hitting someplace on fender/body?
out of alignment?

the hinge kept trying to push out from the car, even when you push them on tight it does leave a little tiny space as it spring out away from the hinge. I just did my 71 demon 4 months back.
