Hood Ornament

I have a 1965 Dart GT and have been thinking about trying to take the center hood ornament apart and repainting the inside. I have not been able to find anyone who refurbishes this type of hood ornament, so I thought I would attempt it myself. Has anyone ever done this and have any helpful how-to pointers?

Which emblem? You have a pic of it?

If its this one looks like there are three tabs you have to release.

That is the one I have. The tabs look like they do need to be released. This may be a little more than I can do, this could be something that I can not do. Will give it a try. Not sure about the chromed ribs. Have to figure out something. May be back for some ideas. Thanks for your help.
