I like the blacked out hood on Dusters, so I decided to paint mine. Never painted before. I went to a local paint shop and told them I wanted Satin black. This is what turned out. I was hoping for more of a flatter sheen. This is a single stage paint. Could I carefully use sandpaper on this paint to make it flat? Or do I need to repaint it with a true flat paint? I'm a novice, so keep it simple please.

Do you still have paint left over? If so go and get a flattening agent to
mix in. They should have it at the paint supply shop.
Reprep and spray again.
Hope this helps

Let thoroughly dry, hit it with 400 and shoot it again. Now that you already have a black base it wont take much to cover it. Make sure you wipe it with wax and grease remover before you reshoot it because contaminants from the oils in your skin can cause it to fish eye. Flats cover real easy and is a forgiving finish for novices. Good luck
