Hood pin lanyard length?

What's the proper length of the hood pin lanyards for a 71/72 Dodge Demon? I've seen both 17" and 23" listed...

The ones on my dart are 23" long if that helps.

For future reference, the 18" lanyards are the perfect length. I went 23" on my 72 Demon (the car that this thread was originally about) and they were just too long, flapping in the breeze. I just installed the Year One kit with the 18" lanyards on my 70 Swinger and they're definitely a better fit.
