Hood sizes?

Please forgive the noob question. From pics, which is all I have, it seems that a 71 Dart and a 71 duster have the same Ft sheetmetal. I want to put a demon scoop on my dart and can only find them listed for Dusters. And then only as a hood/scoop combo.

So, Are they the same?

And is there a place that sells a demon scoop to put on my Dart?

The Dart and Duster are different front ends, but the Demon and Dart are the same. The hood scoops should fit either car though.

Look closely, you'll see that the 70-72 Dart/Demon have small extensions on the front fenders. Viewed from the top, the front edge of the Duster hood is fairly straight, where the Dart/Demon hood is dog-earred. ALL of the sheetmetal on the front end (front clip) will interchange, but the Duster hood won't work on Dart fenders and vice versa.

Sometimes the scoops show up on e-bay. A repro is available from Year One.

This gets a little complicated, but as 71blueduster said, Duster and Dart front ends are too different.

If you are looking at the single scoop with twin snorkles, that was actually a Dodge option only on '72 Demons, '73 Dart Sports and I'm not sure about '74 Dart Sports. They were never available on Dusters from the factory. But they look "natural" on them.

Duster, Demon and Dart hoods actually have different contours so the same scoop will not fit perfectly on all the hoods. But they tend to be close enough to work ok. The early Dusters had that long triangular ridge which would cause the most problems.

AAR Fiberglass in Cocoa, FL makes a nice reproduction scoop. But it is different underneath and lighter. I had to wait a while to get mine. Some make cheaper replicas, but may not have the studs included or accurately positioned. The studs should line up with at least a few of the existing holes in the underhood bracing.

The '71 Dart Swinger and '71 Demon have the same front clip.

There were also seperate twin scoops on 1970 Swingers and I believe Super Bees. Dusters may have gotten them for a year or two.

Thanks guys. Between your help and my searchin', I think I figured it out.

I'm wanting to put a 6 pak scoop, not the twinsnorkel, on my Dart. Found one at www.glasstek.com Can't tell if it's a bolt on or glass on yet.

I had only seen that scoop on a Demon. Yea, still a noob, but thanks to ya'll, I'm gettin' there.
