I have rebuilt my matching numbers 383 in my 69 383-s fastback. I bought some used pulleys to get the engine together and they don't line up. Not even close. The water pump pulley really can't go any further back so it looks like I have the wrong crankshaft pulley.

Anybody out there have the measurements for how much a crankshaft single pulley sticks out from the balancer?

Thanks,
Rod

Looks like two inches..does that sound right?

I got roughly 1-5/8" from the outer ring of the balancer to the inner lip of the pulley.

Are you sure you have the correct WP pulley?

Your balancer does not look like mine either!

It does not appear to be a stock type unit. The outer ring does not have a raised area near the outer edge. The measurements I gave you may not be applicable.

One thing for sure is there is really no bolt heads visable on my WP with the pulley installed.

Sorry Rod.

2-1/4 inch from mount on balancer face to center of belt - crank

2-3/8 inch from outer face of WP pulley to center of belt.

Sorry Rob.

2-1/4 inch from mount on balancer face to center of belt - crank

2-3/8 inch from outer face of WP pulley to center of belt.

Thanks for the measurements, I have the same dimensions for my wp pulley. When I took the picture, I had only one bolt on the wp pulley, so it was cocked a bit.

Looks like I need a different crank pulley.
