I am new the old mopar world.. Just bought a 74 Duster with a 318. The guy I bought it from had what he called a 340 cam. Is there a way to know for sure? I would like to swap it on, but don't want to spend the time if it doesn't do me much good... The motor is stock with a 4 barrel carb on it. I would like to add headers, dual exhaust also. Maybe a motor build later, but for now cam would be nice..
There are a few numbers on it. 970647, 1136, and a few other short numbers. Any help is appreciated..

The only way I know is measure the lobe lift then multiply that by 1.5 and see if any of the 340 cams match that lift. But if I was going to swap cams I'd swap in a more modern grind. Not that the 340 cams were bad or anything. It's that in the past 35 yrs. camshaft technology has made leaps and bounds so there are better grinds available.
