How does a clutch fan operate?

... I also think if you are trying to not spend $30 replacing a 46 year old fan clutch, you probably don't deserve to own a 340.
By that logic, he should also change: water pump, alternator, suspension, radiator, rear-end, ... maybe $15K. Others of us go with the "ain't broke, don't fix" philosophy because a new part isn't new after ___ months (ditto for a "new car"). I haven't seen a Chip Foose-ified car where they don't strip it bare, install a new big block, ... maybe $30K in parts and paint.
