I removed it, placed it in a box, then replaced it with a very late model (1980's) Holley 1945. Runs great, stays dry, couldn't be happier. Kits are plentiful along with floats.
2 suggestions:
1. Get the choke and rod that matches it since they are different between carbs
2. Put a brass float in the 1945.
