how much hp will a 727 handle?

how much hp will a 727 handle? this is going behind my 340 with about 495 to 525 hp.i have a 4800 stall conv.

a little more info would sure help - stock drum? sprag? valve body? what friction material?

A rebuild with good quality clutches/bands will hold that no problem. 727's are very easy to rebuild. There are some upgrades you can do, but, the 727 is pretty darn tough.

The worst thing about them is the potential for an exploding drum. Get the book by Carl Munroe, it is a great reference.
