hey,

I have formulated a plan. This is it. To rebuild my 318 in school, then sell it to pay for the last of my Riviera parts, so i can sell my riviera and pay for my cuda. How much do you think i could sell my 318 for??

It was out of my 69 cuda, and also comes with a 904 tranny

-just a basic rebuild: new spark plug wires, spark plugs, distributor cap, coil, new bearings and piston rings, new gaskets. That about it. The engine also has a 4 barrel manifold with a Carter AFB carb.

I guess i should say" How much would you pay for it"? :clock:

Honestly around here i wouldnt pay more than a couple hundred bucks for it, 318s are a dime a dozen in good running condition. I would pay a little more for a motor with paperwork showing the motor has been bored with new pistons, bearings, cam, etc. A motor that has just been re-ringed isnt worth a whole lot to me as i could just do that to any of the 318s i already have but even if i didnt have one laying around I could easily get ahold of a 318 for around 100 bucks. I really hope for your benefit 318s are worth more wherever you are at so you could get what you need out of it but around here you really wouldnt get a whole lot out of a re-ringed 318. Good luck with it though. Im not trying to dissapoint you, you have just seemed like a nice kid and i dont want to see you spend money that may not get much of a return on if any. But like i said location is everything if its worth a few bucks where your at go for it if you can make some decent money and get your baracuda project underway. Good Luck Justin

I have been trying to sell one for a month now and it has not sold yet. I have noticed in some places you can sell them and in others you can't hardly give them away.

Best of luck to you.

I could walk outside and chances are that I will trip over a 318 in the street. It seams that people ether leave them bone stock or rip them out for a 340/360 I own at least 4 and have sent a few to scrap. anyone in the Seattle area want a 318? 100 bucks?

Yeah they aren't worth much. By the time and money you rebuild a 318 you could have built a 360 which has the longer stroke and bigger cubic inches.

On the plus side, to try and help you get a bit of money, you might want to see what shape the carb is in and see if it has all the numbers on it etc. A few minutes looking it up to see what cars the carb came on could pay dividends. I picked up a thermoquad that I was going to use with my original build plan. Ended up not needing it as I stayed with the Slant in the car. Carb came off an early Dodge van. When I looked up the numbers it was also the same carb they used on 340 Federal cars. Don't remember the exact details now. Needless to say, I listed it on eBay with the info that it had come off of a running Dodge van, the condition, the numbers off of it and the info I had looked up on it off of three reliable sites. Put it on eBay for $20 start bid and the thing got bid up to over $300. Guy paid, got the carb and was happy dappy with it. Sure helped my budget as it allowed me to put new tyres on the car which it badly needed!

As they say, results may vary, but you never know....... maybe the heads or intake are something someone wants. Worth looking into if the engine is tough to sell.

Best of luck with it!

What motor are you going to put in your barracuda?

let gas go up some more and the lowly 318 will get more love. i,ve got a build with a 500 stroker and i,m wondering if it was the right move
