How much of this is now trash?

I just received a 6AL from my pops.

How much of the old ignition system can I remove?


Blue box=now trash?
Points resistor=trash?
all wiring connected to above listed items=trash?

Also any thought why I even have a blue box with points anyways?
I figure the blue box crapped out and it was cheeper to add the resistor and points dizzy?

keep it all handy my brand new 6al has never worked worth a damn , won't idle under 1700 rpm .

I dont think the blue box works and the wiring coming off it is sketchy at best.
Looks like a fire hazard just waiting to go off..

Edit- where did you end up mounting the huge red box?
any picks of your install?

I put it on top of the drivers side inner fender , in front of the washer bottle , in hind site I would put it on the passenger side instead and extend the wiring harness , the new 6al digital boxes are extremely sensitive to other wiring and putting it on the passenger side would keep the distributor harness and coil wiring away from the rest of the wiring on the firewall .No I don't have any pics because I pulled it out and am using the mopar chrome box again , actually looking at the FBO setup and will probably sell the 6al after I get a return code and send it in to be fixed .

this is the one I have.
Not sure how old it is.

My dad has a stack of these as he pulls them off every car he gets...
But Hes funny like that and is a fan of old tech, IE flamethrower ingition..

So if this one is carp then Ill just ask him for another.

With a good working 6AL do I need ANY of.the factory ingition gear or wiring?
I know Chrysler ignition is bad *** but mine is not and I have access to these.
