73 dart front shocks. I'm having a major problem compressing them long enough to get em up in there. any ideas how to proceed? freeze em! thank you for your time. RR

I've used zip ties the last two times I've done shocks. They have to be heavy duty or they'll break on you.

It sounds harder than it should be. I'd verify the extended length to be sure you have the correct shock.

they did come with real thin straps compressing them (likely for a smaller shipping pkg) but I think thin enough I could have installed em that way then cutting them but I made the mistake of cutting them off! I did go ahead & insert the top stud then leverage the bottom up a bit to fit the slot. these things compress hard but thats their job. thanks guys. RR

KYBs I assume? Now you know not to cut the straps next time! You can replicate those straps using the big/HD zip ties.

Once compressed, I like to install them from the bottom mount, cut the tie and guide it up. Don’t forget to install the bottom bushing.

On the rear I go opposite and install from the top, cut the tie and guide it to the shock plate.

Be ready, the KYBs decompress with the quickness.

the KYB's are on & not much difference in ride quality which tells me that maybe the old shocks were not that bad and or its the road quality here or a combination of both. thanks guys. RR

Want some rear ones (kyb) cheap that were only used a few hundred miles? They raised the back of my car too much. Pm me.
