Hey guys,

I have a couple 904 transmissions that I'm going to sell as cores. How do I identify a console shift version from a column shift one?

Thanks!!

As far as i know,they the same. Unless its 65 and older and has two shift cables instead of a lever.

If it has double ears on the bottom for the linkage support, it will work for the newer console shift cars.

I have seen them in non-console cars & pickup trucks too.

Edit;
Here is a photo of the bunny ears needed to bolt the lower console shift linkage support arm to;

My slant 6 904 column shifted 1970 dart had the console shifter ears. Swapped a V8 and 727 into it. I bought the 727 from a guy that pulled it from his D100. It also has the mounting ears.

The transmission housings will work for either...

You just need the proper linkages to make it do whichever one that you have...

Dont know about the 904, but 727 tail housings came in two flavours, with and without the two ears, whos only purpose are for the console shift linkage. If they are there on the 904, it will work for a 66 and up console shift.
