I bought a Hurst Quarter Stick and the guys I bought it from told me he"thinks" its for a reverse manual vb. Is there a way to tell for sure without installing and hooking up the shifter?
Thanks.

.............not sure myself, but i think u should be able to tell wgich way the detents are by shifting it too and fro................kim............

if its a ratchet shifter it dosn't matter... as kim said if its a "slap stick" which ever way it moves is your direction...

quarter stick is alot like a B&M pro stick....

put the shifter in neutral...grab trigger and pull back...see if it drops into where 1st would be on a reverse manual valve body...and then pull back again...should shift into 2 on a RMVB...and then grab the trigger and shift into 3rd on a manual valve body...

the b&m pro stick requires that the gate be replaced.....

I've actually run a forward pattern quarter stick with a reverse pattern valve body for decades, but you have to be very careul. After one particular "going from first to third" a few months ago, I went ahead and got the "correct" shifter. It took some getting use to, but I did well first time out and shouldn't have to worry about missed shifts anymore.
