I have a dodge 8.75 - 741 banjo rear end, the right hand side wheel bearing is toast. Check the end play and there is a alot of end play. So I removed the wheels and the 5 nuts holding the retainers on and the axles will not slide out, they will push in and out about an 1/8th of an inch.

How do I remove the axles so I can replace the bearings? Thanks

Got a rim with no tire? Bolt it up and use it like a handle.

Sometimes take a few good jolts to get them out.

A slide hammer is the preffered method but if you don't have one then the wheel trick may work. Use an old wheel and you could even smack it a few times with a hammer from behind if nec. but tighten the lug nuts up first.

i have anouther trick, get a heavy toe chain and bolt one end on the axel at the large hole in the flange, then hold the chane about 6 to 8ft back puting about to feet of slack between you and the axel. then wip it or jurk it tight real fast and watch out for flying axels. it works.

Chain on 2 opposing lug studs and then thru a hole in a concrete block. Yank the slack out of the chain and keep out of the way.....
