Here's a Video of me installing Hughes Rocker Shaft Shims. I know for a lot of you seasoned guys and gals this type of stuff is common and boring but for the rookie/intermediate Moparians like myself it could help or answer some questions.

I'm also not a videographer so cut me some slack.

Very nice video I'm about to go through the exact same setup. I purchased a set of small block mopar adjustable rocker arms and planning on installing next week. Where did you find the procedure for setting up the adjustable rocker arm height/spacing for the push rod? Let me know if you get a chance, thanks.

Very nice video, that should help out a few folks for sure! I used the same spacer kit on my adjustable aluminum rockers, also got the hold down kit from Hughes too, good stuff :glasses7:

It takes a bunch of time to get the side clearances right. If you do not use a feeler gage between the two sides when tightening the rocker hold down it will shift and throw off your clearances. I found that roughing in the whole rocker shaft stack on the bench then making fine adjustments to the one of two big hold downs after the 5 shaft hold downs are tightened, do one at a time, works pretty well. I just ground down the sides of the big hold down I was trying to get right, doing one side at a time. Use a caliper to know how much you need to remove.

Thanks darc1722. My shaft height is standard with no spacers and my pushrods are 7.497 (Comp Cams PN# 7822-16) in length which were the same height as my originals. After the new cam I just set the rocker adjuster's to the gap and made sure the contact on the valves was aligned. There are some guys on here that could probably explain the geometrics of it much better than I though.

Very useful info, I was just looking at the side to side movement on my race motor. I noticed that there was quite a bit of side to side movement on the rockers. I will be ordering a set of the spacers from Hughes and installing them soon.

Thanks again.

Download the Hughes instructions on rocker spacers and the rocker shaft shims (geometry). There is good stuff there.

Is this link still valid? I cant get it to load! If you could send me the video id really appreciate it.
