hey, i was looking into buying a Hurst quarter stick shifter for my '68 dart with a TF 904 trans. I just have a couple questions i hope you guys can answer:

1. what is the difference between reverse and forward valve body?, and which is the proper one for my car.

2. How does the quarter stick work? is full ratchet all the time or does it let the tranny do the shifting like a normal shifter ?

3. Will i need a ful manual valvebody or will it work with my stock trans?

I've got a Quarter Stick in my car and I love it.

1. A reverse valve body goes P-R-N-1-2-3, a forward valve body goes P-R-N-3-2-1. So when you drop it into 1st gear, to shift to 2nd you pull back on the stick instead of going forward. The same from 2nd to 3rd. This way you can't accidentely shift into neutral.

2. My car has a reverse manual valve body so it has to be shifted from gear to gear. But I assume that if you have a regular valve body and a forward pattery Quarter Stick, you would just drop it into drive (3) and your tranny would shift as normal.

3. I don't believe you need a manual valve body to use this shifter. In fact, I'm 99.9% positive you don't.

HTH.
