When using Hyd. lifters, Do the push rods have to have the holes in the ends? This is for a 68' 340.
 

no, the rockers are oiled from the head bolt. Most aftermarket lifters have an oil hole in the pushrod piston as this is a common part across the entire lifter line. If you do have holes in your pushrods, youll simply get oil pumped up your hollow rods to your rocker faces, and that never hurt anyone. You need these oiling lifters in AMC and Magnum motors as they are oiled in this manner.
 
Thanks for the replies. It still bugs me a bit that Melling couldn't put the holes in there like the stock ones.
